What's the difference between free and premium?

Free accounts get unlimited random short links, up to 5 custom slugs (3-character minimum), 3 link-in-bio pages with 5 items each, and 14 days of analytics retention. Premium removes the custom-slug and page caps, allows 50 items per page, extends retention to 90 days, and adds advanced builder customization.

How do custom slugs work, and what are the length limits?

A custom slug is a name you choose yourself instead of an auto-generated code, like 1url.at/yourname/launch. Free accounts can create up to 5 custom slugs with a 3-character minimum. Premium removes the count cap and lowers the minimum to 1 character. Username prefixes require 6 characters on Free and 2 on Premium.

Why can't I use a particular slug?

A few reasons: the slug is already taken by another user under the same namespace, it collides with a reserved path (like /api, /dashboard, /auth, /admin, /support, /privacy, /terms, /pricing, /about, /features, /analytics, /link-in-bio, /p, /r, /a, /og), or it is shorter than the minimum length for your tier. Try a longer or more specific name.

Can my short links expire automatically?

Yes. Every short link supports an optional expiry timestamp when you create it. Once the expiry passes, the link stops redirecting. Expired links stay visible in your dashboard so you can still see their historical click counts before removing them — handy for launches, coupons, or any share with a fixed window.

How do link pages work?

Sign in, open your dashboard, and create a new link page. Add your links, choose a theme, publish the page, and share the public URL anywhere you want. Free accounts get 3 link pages with 5 items each; Premium allows unlimited pages with 50 items each.

Can I upload videos or audio files to a link page?

Free accounts can only upload image assets — things like a profile picture or background. Video, audio, and document link items must be hosted externally and linked by URL (YouTube, Vimeo, and Spotify embeds render inline on the public page). Premium unlocks direct uploads for every link item type. This keeps storage use predictable on the free plan.

Can I use a custom domain for my link page?

Custom domains are on the premium roadmap but not available today. Every link page currently lives under 1url.at — either at a shareable slug like 1url.at/p/yourpage, or under your username prefix like 1url.at/yourname/launch.

What analytics do I get?

Short links and link pages include built-in analytics in your dashboard. You can see clicks, page views, item clicks on link pages, daily trend lines, and country-level traffic. All-time totals on each entity are preserved forever on a denormalized counter so lifetime numbers stay accurate even after detailed rows are pruned.

How long is my analytics data kept?

Free accounts can query up to 14 days of historical analytics. Premium accounts can query up to 90 days. Older detailed rows are pruned, but the all-time counter on each short link and link page is preserved separately.

Do you use cookies or store my visitors' IP addresses?

Accepted Answer

No analytics cookies are set. Raw IP addresses and user-agent strings are used as inputs to a daily salted SHA-256 hash and are not written to the analytics reporting table. The salt rotates each day. Consent requirements depend on the site, other technologies, and jurisdiction.

Why do I see 0 clicks on a link I just created?

Totals update in near real time from a live denormalized counter on every redirect, but country breakdowns and daily trend lines come from an hourly rollup, so a brand-new click can take up to an hour to appear in the aggregated charts. If you're testing your own link, check that you're not hitting browser cache — append a query string or open an incognito window to force a fresh redirect.

How do I reset my password?

On the login page, click "Forgot password" and enter your email. We'll send a time-limited reset link. Open it and choose a new password. The reset link is single-use and expires quickly — request a fresh one if it has timed out. If you don't receive the email within a few minutes, check your spam folder or email info@1url.at.

How do I delete my account?

Email info@1url.at from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. We'll confirm, then permanently remove your user record, short links, link pages, uploaded assets, and historical analytics. Anonymous aggregate counters that were never tied to your identity (like cookieless visitor hashes that already rotated) are not reversible because they contain no personal data.

Are there rate limits I should know about?

Yes, for abuse protection. Public endpoints and authentication paths have per-IP rate limits enforced at the edge, and authenticated API actions have a second tier of limits tied to your user. Normal dashboard use will never hit them. If you hit one — usually by scripting creates in a tight loop — you'll get an HTTP 429 response; wait a minute and try again, or email info@1url.at if you have a legitimate bulk-creation need.

How do I upgrade to premium or cancel later?

Registered users currently receive Premium features during launch. There is no separate Premium refund flow during launch. If plan terms change, the pricing and support pages will be updated.

Can I export my data, or is there a public API?

Accepted Answer

A public REST API and CSV exports for click and page-view data are both on the premium roadmap. Today, analytics is visible directly in the dashboard — per-entity stats pages with trend charts and top countries, plus a summary on the main dashboard. If you need a workaround, the worker can optionally forward anonymous redirect events to your own Google Analytics 4 property via Measurement Protocol.

Why am I getting a 404 on my short link or link page?

A few common causes: the slug was mistyped, the owning account was deleted, the short link has passed its expiry timestamp, or the link page is unpublished or set inactive in the dashboard. Open the dashboard and confirm the entity exists and is marked active. If everything looks right and visitors still see 404, email info@1url.at with the exact URL.

What do 401 and 403 errors from the dashboard mean?

A 401 means your session has expired — sign out and back in. A 403 usually means the action is blocked for your tier (for example, trying to create a sixth custom slug on the free plan) or a CSRF protection mismatch from a stale tab. Refresh the page, or sign out and back in. Persistent 403s on an action that should be available warrant an email to info@1url.at.
